Registration

Q. How do I register for a course?
A. You have a few options. You can register by mail, fax, in person at the Buck Mickel Center or online. Go to the Register Now page to learn more about the registration steps.

Payment

Q. When is payment due?
A. Payment is due at time of registration. If registering online, please be sure to have your credit card handy to properly complete the online registration process. We do not accept cash payments through the mail. You must pay cash in person. If you wish to pay by check (either through mail or in person), please make checks payable to Greenville Technical College Economic Development & Corporate Training Division (EDCT). Please write the course number in the "For" field. If you have questions, please contact us at 250-8800.

What is EDCT?

Q. What is EDCT?
A. Economic Development & Corporate Training (EDCT) provides continuing education and retraining for the adult population ranging from personal interest to career change. We are sometimes referred to as continuing education.

Hours of operation

Q. What are the operation hours of registration for Economic Development & Corporate Training?
A. Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Do EDCT courses transfer?

Q. Do EDCT courses transfer to a four year college?
A. EDCT courses are noncredit; however, some of the healthcare courses provide points for weighted admissions process.

Where can I get a transcript?

Q. Where can I get a transcript of EDCT courses I have taken?
A. You may request a copy of your transcript to be faxed, mailed, or picked up when required information is provided. Please note the transcript provides a Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory status-not a grade status. In order to process this request by fax or mail, you will need to provide a copy of your driver’s license or ID, social security number, the course, year taken, and where to send the transcript. If you choose to come to the Buck Mickel Center, you will need to have a picture ID in order to pick your transcript up.

Can I get a duplicate certificate?

Q. Where can I get a duplicate certificate?
A. You may request a copy of your certificate to be mailed or picked up when required information is provided. In order to process this request you will need to provide a copy of your driver’s license or ID, social security number, the course, year taken, and where to send the certificate. If you choose to come to the Buck Mickel Center, you will need to have a picture ID in order to pick your certificate up. In most cases the fee is $10.

Courses in other GTC locations?

Q. Can EDCT courses be taken at other locations of Greenville Technical College?
A. If courses are held at alternate locations, they will be shown on the course schedule.

Day classes or Night classes

Q. Can I decide if I want to take my class in the day or at night?
A. Some courses are delivered both day and evening. Please check the course schedule for options.

Must have picture ID?

Q. Do I have to have a picture ID, and if so, where can I get it?
A. You may not be required to have a picture ID. If you are, you will receive further details either at registration or during class.

Where purchase books?

Q. Can I purchase books for the EDCT courses at any Greenville Technical College bookstore?
A. Yes, in some cases. Check your confirmation receipt for required books and/or supplies.
Books for some courses are included in the registration fee.

What job placement is available?

Q. What type of job placement does EDCT offer?
A. Greenville Technical College has a Career Services Center that is available to all current and former students. You may contact the Career Center (864) 250-8139 or (864) 250-8222.

Financial aid for EDCT courses?

Q. Does financial aid cover EDCT courses?
A. There are resources available through various agencies that can provide help for EDCT students. The program manager of the course may have additional information or visit Paying for Courses.

Is there an application fee?

Q. Is there an application fee to register for the EDCT courses?
A. In most cases there is no application fee necessary.

Cancellation Policy

Q. What is the cancellation policy at EDCT?
A. You may cancel your registration with 7 days’ notice before class starts. A processing fee of $25 will be charged for cancellation from courses under $500 and $75 for courses over $500. There is no charge to transfer your registration to another class when requested at least 7 days before original class start. Cancellations or class transfers made with less than 7 days’ notice result in forfeiture of total registration fee.

Payment Plans

Q. Are there payment plans available for EDCT courses?
A. The program manager will be the contact for any available payment plans.

Trouble with Blackboard

Q. What if I’m having trouble with my Blackboard login?
A. Please submit the online form at https://gvltec.blackboard.com/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp.
