The 12-credit hour, four-semester program, which is the ground training portion of pilot preparation, consists of five courses in theory, meteorology, navigation, and legal aspects of flying. The college will partner with Donaldson Jet Center, where flight time and pilot certification will be provided. The ground training portion will prepare students to pass written exams, giving them the aeronautical knowledge required by federal aviation regulations. “The alternative to a concentrated learning environment such as the one we offer is to learn through home study,” says Darcy Bruns, instructor for the program. “Our program will offer the knowledge in a condensed version, which should improve performance on the required exams.” For more information on the new private pilot certificate, call Darcy Bruns at 277-4937 or Carl Washburn at 422-1762.
