McCune receives NISOD teaching award
(GREENVILLE, SC) Linda McCune of Greer, an instructor in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Greenville Tech, has received a National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) National Award of Teaching Excellence. NISOD Excellence Awards emphasize the importance of teaching and leadership excellence in institutions of higher education. McCune was also named Professor of the Year at Greenville Tech this year.
McCune has been a member of the Greenville Tech faculty since 1988. Actively pursuing her own artistic growth along with her teaching schedule, McCune has been featured in over 90 solo exhibitions and 350 group shows across the U.S. and internationally. She was nominated for the Rockefeller Foundation AVA Awards, has won South Carolina’s state artist fellowship grant for artistic excellence, and was honored as one of the most influential artists of the last 100 years by the South Carolina Arts Commission in 2000.
McCune received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the University of Tennessee and a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of South Carolina. She has been educating college students in art for 35 years and has held residencies and college positions in South Carolina and Tennessee.
Since 1978, the National Institute for Staff & Organizational Development (NISOD) has been dedicated to the professional development of faculty, administrators, and staff; and to the continued improvement of teaching and learning, with the ultimate goal of student success.
More than 700 community colleges around the world are NISOD-members, including almost every large community college district, the majority of urban and technical colleges in the United States and Canada, and more than 200 small, rural colleges around the world.
Greenville Tech’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts offers an associate degree with transfer tracks in Art Education, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Photography, and Web Site Design. Students may also earn a certificate in one or more of these areas of interest.
