Greenville Tech chooses new president
(GREENVILLE, SC) -- Dr. Keith Miller, president of Black Hawk College in Illinois, has been offered the position of Greenville Technical College’s next president. The offer was made following a unanimous decision by the Greenville Area Commission for Technical Education. The salary review committee of agency heads, part of the State Budget and Control Board, which meets May 13, will have final approval of compensation.
“It was a 100 percent, unanimous decision,” said Sam Clayton, area commission chairman. “Both the Area Commission and Dr. Miller feel really good that things will work out.”
“The issues that carry a lot of weight with me are character and integrity. He has a lot of both,” said retiring President Dr. Thomas E. Barton. “I believe this community will be very pleased with the individual selected to take my place.”
“The selection process by the Area Commission was deliberate, thoughtful, and inclusive of the inputs of the Greenville Tech faculty, staff, and educational partners of the college,” said Paul Batson, vice-chairman of the area commission. “Dr. Charles Chrestman was also highly qualified, but in the selection process, Dr. Miller was found to have the best credentials to match the college’s needs, mission, and vision.”
