First Time Homebuyers Course opens the door to homeownership
How much money do I need for a down payment on a house? If I am not qualified to buy a house today, what steps can I take to make sure I will be able to buy one in the future? What is my credit rating, what does it mean, and what can I do to improve my credit rating? People who are interested in owning a home have questions, and The First Time Homebuyers Education Course has answers. Since June is National Homeownership Month, it’s a topic on people’s minds.
The course consists of eight modules: Planning for Homeownership, Credit Analysis and House Budgeting, Financing the Home Purchase, Shopping for a Home, Applying for a Mortgage, the Closing Process, Living in and Maintaining Your Home, and Post-Closing Activities.
The course, offered by the Greenville County Human Relations Commission and partners and recognized by lenders, is designed to take a potential buyer through the home buying process step by step. It covers everything from deciding whether you can afford to own a home to information about mortgages, closing costs, budgets, and home maintenance.
One component of The First Time Homebuyers Education Course, The Key Program for Homeownership, will be offered on Greenville Tech’s Barton Campus June 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
