December 19, 2007 Nursing Dean Honored for Excellence
Gayle Heller, Dean of Health Sciences and Nursing at Greenville Tech, received the South Carolina League for Nursing Award for Excellence presented in Columbia on November 16.
The award recognizes nurses, healthcare professionals, and other individuals who have made significant contributions to the quality of health care in the state. Heller earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of the State of New York and a master’s degree from Clemson University. She spent 23 years as a faculty member at Greenville Tech before being named chair of nursing in 1996 and dean of nursing in 2000. Heller was named dean of the combined Health Sciences and Nursing Division in fall of 2004. Heller has announced her plans to retire at the end of this year.
