The following policies apply to Greenville Technical College students, Greenville Tech Charter High students, and community patrons.
Registration (obtaining a library card)
Students must present a picture ID, preferably a student ID, to obtain a library card. They may apply in person or
online. Online applicants will receive a Library card in 3 - 5 days.
Charter High School students must present an application form, signed by a parent or legal guardian with custody. Please do not apply online.
Community patrons living in Greenville County must apply in person with proper state identification; for example, legal documents, lease statements, utility bills less than 60 days old, and any other proof of residency.
The first Library card is free. Lost or stolen library cards cost $1.00 to replace.
Borrowing materials
Students may borrow up to 5 books per topic.
Community patrons may have up to five books checked out at any given time.
Students may borrow specified audiovisual materials.
Print periodicals and newspapers are in-house use only.
Borrowers are responsible for all materials checked out on their Library card.
Due dates
Most books are checked out for four weeks, except when the due date would exceed the last date of the semester.
During the last four weeks of the semester, the due date becomes the last day of the semester. Students registered for the following semester may request to have the due date extended.
Some books in specialized collections, such as Reserve, will have varied due dates.
Renewals
Overdue fees
Print materials are $0.10 per day per item.
Visual materials are $1.00 per day per item.
$10.00 in fees results in a hold on both the library record and the student's business office record.
Lost and damaged fees
An item is assumed lost at 35 days overdue.
Library staff shall determine if an item is damaged beyond repair.
Lost items and those damaged beyond repair are billed at the cost of the item plus a $10.00 processing fee. The student's campus-wide record is blocked until payment is made in full.
If an item is returned prior to payment of the lost-item bill, the lost fee is replaced by the overdue fee.
Statewide Borrower Card for South Carolina Higher Education Students
Students attending Greenville Technical College may request a South Carolina Library Directors' Forum Library Borrowing Card (Statewide Borrower Card) in addition to the Greenville Technical College Library card.
Valid for current semester only.
Enables students to borrow materials directly from other South Carolina college and university libraries.
The amount of materials, due dates, overdue fines, and other policies are set by the lending library.
Materials borrowed directly from another college or university must be returned to that institution.

- The charge for printing is 10 cents per page.
A pay-to-print card is required. Pay-to-print cards may be purchased in the nearby Computer Valley for $1.00. There are other print stations available at various points on campus. Value can be added to the card in $1.00 and $5.00 increments, up to $20.00. Pay-to-print cards are reuseable.
The Library strongly recommends that pay-to-print card owners write a name and telephone number on the card so that lost cards may be returned.
