AUTO BODY REPAIR PROGRAM

Times have changed. Today, auto body repair is not about eyeballing the damage and pounding out the dents.

Thanks to advanced computer technology used to create and repair today’s vehicles, this high tech career is a profession requiring advanced training.
Vehicles today are said to pack more computing punch than a spaceship.

Today’s vehicles use computer technology to meet the safety, environmental, communications and entertainment needs of drivers. When an accident occurs, electronic sensors deliver information to a microprocessor on the severity of the accident, the seat position, the size of the person in it, and whether the seat belt is engaged – all before the life saving features are activated.

Vehicle repairs depend on the computer, too. A computerized measuring system is used to determine where the vehicle’s platform has been damaged. Then repairs can be made to factory specifications.

Greenville Tech offers several options in the auto body repair field. We offer an auto repair diploma and certificates that give you a thorough knowledge of Unibody, Structural repair, Sheet metal repair, Welding, Painting, Estimating, and Refinishing.  We also offer BSEP (Body Service Educational Program), an advanced option that qualifies you to perform paint, body and chassis service in training paths for Chrysler, Ford, Lexus, Toyota, Volvo and GM.

Greenville Tech’s Body Service Educational Program (BSEP) program is an I-CAR (Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair) alliance member, making it part of a recognized industry training standard. I-CAR’s vision is to ensure that every person working in the collision industry has the technical knowledge and skills needed to provide complete and safe repairs.

BSEP students also have the option to earn Gold Class Points, which increase a graduate’s marketability and reduce training costs for both the students and the businesses hiring them. Dealerships and other body service providers save approximately two-thirds of the cost of each gold class point when taken through BSEP. Today’s body shops are required to have “certified” welders for correct structural repairs. Properly made repairs decrease a shop’s liability. In today’s market, an education isn’t a luxury – it’s a necessity.

Greenville Tech can also teach you to take your basic auto body skills to the next level with our specialized street rod and customizing training.

Greenville Tech’s Auto Body Repair program can give you an excellent start as an auto body collision repair technician, leading you up the ladder to shop foreman, shop manager, estimator, insurance appraiser or even owner of your own body shop.
