MOTORSPORTS TECHNOLOGY
Catch the Rush of Racing
Official Educational Institution of USAR Pro Cup Series
Greenville Tech’s MotorSports Technology program teaches everything related to high-performance automobiles from introductory courses to advanced courses in Welding, MotorSports Operations, Frame and chassis fabrication, Paint and body techniques, High Performance Engines, Chassis setup, Dyno testing, Tires, Shocks, and Motorsports marketing.
Hands-on learning is emphasized and provided in the shop areas and through experiences such as weekend field trips to racetracks around the Carolinas.
Greenville Tech’s newest opportunity for real-world experience comes in fielding the college’s first race car competing in the USAR Series. The car will be built from the ground up by students, with sponsorships and donations from many partners. The pit crew will also be students, with veteran Motorsports driver John Finger behind the wheel.

Greenville Tech’s MotorSports Technology program allows you to work toward one or more certificates in MotorSports Technology, earn credit for a future diploma or associate degree in MotorSports Technology, or as pre-engineering preparation toward a MotorSports Engineering degree at a four-year institution with the hands-on skills demanded by the MotorSports industry.
Greenville Tech is the only college in South Carolina where students can enroll in the General Technologies Associate Degree with a concentration in MotorSports, a two-year program that provides extensive experience in MotorSports, with cross training in automotive and auto body techniques. With a variety of marketable skills, graduates can go to work for a race team, an auto body shop, a fabrication shop, or other automotive businesses.
Many aspiring motorsports professionals start with small teams or MotorSports related support industries. With the creation of Greenville’s new Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research, which has the potential to put South Carolina in the forefront of the nation’s Automotive and MotorSports industry, many potential high-paying jobs are projected in the next few years for skilled high-performance automotive professionals.
Greenville is located in the middle of the U.S. “MotorSports Corridor” that extends from Charlotte to Atlanta and encompasses two-thirds of the North American MotorSports activity. Although most of the highly visible and coveted NASCAR-related jobs are in the Charlotte area, Greenville Tech’s MotorSports Technology program is designed to prepare students for many different jobs in the industry anywhere in the country.
