CRIMINAL JUSTICE
The Department of Criminal Justice holds as it primary mission to provide students with the most academically challenging curriculum relevant to the realities of the ever-changing world of law enforcement. This is achieved by insuring that all instructors are accomplished professionals having had successful careers within the Criminal Justice System. An actively engaged Advisory Committee represents the spectrum of the criminal justice community
within Greenville County.
The Department of Criminal Justice offers undergraduate coursework intended to provide a thorough understanding of the criminal justice system and its interrelation with society. A foundational curriculum is offered to assist students in achieving an associate degree or planning to enter bachelor programs, graduate school, law school, research, government service, or social services including law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, juvenile justice, and victim services.
Students seeking employment regularly receive information on positions in the Criminal Justice field at the local, county, state and federal levels, as well as positions in private security.
A talented and capable faculty with broad practical experience and diverse academic foundations has been assembled to assist the pursuits of our Criminal Justice students.
Career Opportunities
Most graduates find employment with law enforcement agencies, corrections, detention centers, private investigation and corporate and industrial security, rehabilitation and juvenile justice agencies such as the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, Greenville County Detention Center, and the Greenville County Police Department.
