The following academic ESL courses are available at Greenville Technical College
Grammar I:
General review of intermediate level English grammar with writing emphasis at the sentence level.
Grammar II:
Continued review of High-Intermediate level English grammar with writing emphasis at the sentence to paragraph level.
Reading/Writing I:
This course is a general review of reading/writing skills with integrated grammar and vocabulary reinforcement. Emphasis is on pre-writing and organizational strategies at the paragraph level.
Reading/Writing II:
This course is a general review of reading/writing skills with integrated grammar and vocabulary reinforcement. Emphasis is on writing conventions and editing skills at the short essay level.
Writing I: Advanced Composition in ESL
This course is a study of advanced writing including different rhetorical modes of extended composition (narrative form, compare/contrast, cause/effect, etc).

Greenville Tech also offers the following Non Academic ESL courses.
Listening I: Introduction to Listening and Speaking
This course is a study of functions and forms of spoken English. Contemporary topics formulate the basis for practice in everyday conversation, formal and informal oral presentations, as well as focused listening skills.
Listening II: Advanced Listening and Speaking
This course is a study of advanced language functions/structures and listening comprehension using contemporary topics in audio-visual media. Television, film and radio spots will formulate the basis for practice in listening skills, advanced vocabulary, group discussion/debates, and oral presentations with pronunciation practice.
Pronunciation I:
This is a course designed to teach standard North American pronunciation using the phonetic alphabet for vowel and consonant recognition and practice.
Pronunciation II:
This is a course designed to teach standard North American pronunciation with a review of the phonetic alphabet for vowel and consonant recognition and emphasis on fluency skills (intonation, rhythm, stress and pronunciation of grammatical forms).
*All ESL students have free access to the ESL computer language lab.
