![]() Mathematics The Mathematics Department is comprised of faculty members who enjoy what they do and put student success first. Whether they’re teaching one of the basic courses or a higher level math section, you’ll receive plenty of attention from instructors who care about your progress. The department operates Math Centers at each campus to provide extra assistance so that you never have to fall behind or get frustrated with an assignment. No appointment is required; just drop in for the help you need. Hours for the term are posted at each location: Barton Campus, in the Arts and Sciences Learning Center, building 104, room 131; Brashier Campus, George Bomar Building, room 134; Greer Campus, building 301, room 203, and the Northwest Campus (location to be determined). Various supplemental texts, access to computer software, and cables for calculator downloads are also available. The department offers courses numbered MAT 102 and above; the Department of Developmental Studies also offers MAT 031, 032 and 101. Many courses require or recommend a specific calculator. Placement into mathematics courses is determined either by the COMPASS or ASSET placement exam offered in Admissions, SAT or ACT score, or prerequisite coursework.
