Submit your FAFSA early

Don’t get left behind!

  1. Start completing your FAFSA three months earlier than previously. This means for the 2018-19 award year, the FAFSA will be available on October 1, 2017 rather than on January 1, 2018.

  2. Use your 2016 tax returns. The income information used on this FAFSA will be from two years prior to the application year rather than just one year prior as it has been in the past. This means for the 2018-19 award year the tax data used will be from your 2016 tax returns. Using 2016 tax returns simplifies the financial aid application process by allowing more families to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool because most tax filers have complete their prior year’s tax returns by October 2017.

3/1/2018

Financial Aid/FAFSA submission request date for FALL 2018. Although GTC does not have a strict FAFSA submission deadline, we do have a submission request date. This means that students who submit their FAFSA by the given date should have adequate time for their aid to be calculated and their award letter to be generated when compared to students who do not meet the submission request date.
