Graduate Spotlight - Nursing

From serving country to serving community

Zenovia JacksonAfter serving as a Sonar Technician in the United State Navy, Zenovia Jackson wanted to continue to serve, only closer to home. She enrolled in the nursing program at GTC with plans to work with Veterans Affairs. As a participant in our RN to BSN Bound program, Zenovia will continue on to obtain her bachelor’s degree after graduating with an associate degree in the fall.

Where ever she goes, Zenovia is confident she is ready for the next step. The advanced technology and extensive hands-on clinical training she received in GTC’s nursing program have instilled a confidence that she can help her patients. This confidence and her determination have served her well in life. “Don’t let anything stand in your way,” the mother of four says. “If I can do it, you can do it.”

Big plans start at GTC

Lauren RoperLauren Roper chose to begin her career in nursing at Greenville Technical College because of the program’s reputation in the community. Coupled with the much lower cost compared to a four-year college, Lauren saw a tremendous value in getting her associate in nursing at GTC and then transferring to complete her bachelor’s degree at Clemson University.

Lauren believes that as a nurse, you always have an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life – big or small. Her dream is to help women during one of the most important experiences in their lives – childbirth. After completing her BSN at Clemson, Lauren wants to study midwifery in graduate school at Vanderbilt University and become a Certified Nurse Midwife. Beginning her nursing career at GTC will ensure she’s well prepared to continue on her educational path without debt that will follow her forever.
