With the Online College, you can pursue your academic goals thanks to options that meet your schedule and needs. Here, you'll find information about how to register for classes, types of classes we offer (online, video, teleclasses, hybrid, etc.), how to get technical support, where to go for more information, and a lot more.

The types of courses we offer at Online College are asynchronous or synchronous fancy words for simple concepts! Asynchronous means that not everyone in the class is meeting at the same time; in fact, online courses and videocourses allow you to attend class at any time of day or night (though some courses have on-campus assessments that must be scheduled), and the instructor may not be in the class at the same time you are. Synchronous classes, like teleclasses or hybrids, meet on campus at certain scheduled times, and the students and instructors are present in class at the same time.

Online courses meet via computer, through our learning management system, WebCT. Online students log directly into WebCT in order to attend class. There, they access course lectures, receive assignments, and correspond with classmates and instructor.

Videocourse students have the benefit of having course materials on DVD's so you can watch at your convenience, as well as having access to online tools such as the discussion board and email.

Cameras and microphones allow a student on any of Greenville Tech's campuses to have access to an instructor who is in a classroom on the Barton campus. You can see the instructor and ask questions during the class meeting.

Taking a hybrid class means you attend classroom meetings on scheduled days but also receive part of your instruction online, via WebCT. The number of class meetings may be reduced and replaced by online classwork. Course activities, like discussions or tests, may take place in the classroom or online. Lessons will be provided in traditional lecture format or online.

Whatever class structure you choose, you can find here a variety of courses from all divisions at Greenville Tech. If you want to learn on a flexible schedule, you can do it through Online College.
