Mission
It is the mission of Greenville Technical College’s Online Learning Program to provide quality education to all students in a learning environment through state-of-the-art technology and convenient scheduling that is both supportive of the needs of the complete student and academically sound in both content and delivery.

The types of courses we offer with Online Learning are asynchronous or synchronous - fancy words for simple concepts! Asynchronous means that not everyone in the class is meeting at the same time; in fact, online courses and videocourses allow you to attend class at any time of day or night (though some courses have on-campus assessments that must be scheduled), and the instructor may not be in the class at the same time you are. Synchronous classes, like teleclasses or hybrids, meet on campus at certain scheduled times, and the students and instructors are present in class at the same time.

Online courses meet via computer, through our learning management system, Blackboard. Online students log directly into Blackboard in order to attend class. There, they access course lectures, receive assignments, and correspond with classmates and instructor.

Taking a hybrid class means you attend classroom meetings on scheduled days but also receive part of your instruction online, via Blackboard. The number of class meetings may be reduced and replaced by online classwork. Course activities, like discussions or tests, may take place in the classroom or online. Lessons will be provided in traditional lecture format or online.

Whatever class structure you choose, you can find here a variety of courses from all divisions at Greenville Tech. If you want to learn on a flexible schedule, you can do it through Online Learning.
