Personal Trainer Program

Greenville Technical College’s Personal Trainer certificate is a science-based educational foundation that provides an understanding of the fundamentals of exercise science, clinical nutrition, and human anatomy and physiology, along with techniques in cardiorespiratory, muscular strength/muscular endurance, and flexibility fitness.

This 30-credit hour program can be completed in two or three semesters and consists almost entirely of fitness-related courses. Second semester students gain true hands-on experience working with clients through the personal trainer clinic on campus as well as through an off-site internship.

A career you can count on

With fitness and wellness trends shifting from treatment to prevention, the job market for personal trainers is strong and continues to grow. A certified Personal Trainer can work in a wellness center, assisted living center, gym, corporate fitness facility, health club, chiropractic office, physical therapy office, fitness club, or parks and recreation center. Some trainers work on an independent basis, either contracting with fitness facilities or with individual clients for in-home training sessions. Certified professional personal trainers can earn between $25 and $60 an hour.
