Q: Why is accreditation important?
A: Being accredited through SACS Commission on Colleges validates that Greenville Technical College provides quality education and curriculum that will be recognized regionally and nationally. Without this accreditation, students may not be able to receive federal financial aid, eligibility for various board certifications, or transfer of credits.
Q: What is the QEP? How does it work?
A: Greenville Technical College has selected "Steer Your Career: Start your journey with the right major" as the topic for the college's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) in order to address the need incoming students have for academic program awareness and career maturity development. Utilizing a series of online tutorials as well as external resources, the Steer Your Career QEP will educate and prepare students for academic programs at Greenville Technical College, as well as help them develop career maturity.
Q: How was the QEP chosen?
A: An email blast was sent to the campuses at large requesting submission of ideas from faculty, students, staff, community members, and administrators. A QEP Review Committee of faculty, staff, and students was created to review submitted proposals. The top five proposals were chosen, and all members of the Greenville Technical College community were asked to vote on the QEP from August 15 to August 26, 2011.
Q: What are the benefits of the QEP?
A: Increased academic program awareness will allow students to start with the right major that meets their academic needs and wants. The QEP aims to strengthen existing levels of services to students by facilitating academic program awareness and fostering career maturity through exposure to career options.
Q: How do I use the QEP?
A: As an incoming student, the QEP will be introduced during orientation registration. Should a student desire more information, he or she will be directed to the Career Services Center to get more information and / or guidance. There will also be online information available to all students through the GTC website.
Q: Where do I get more information about the QEP?
A: Information about the QEP will be found on the GTC4me portal and this website, and copies of the executive summary are available upon request.
