Tuition Refunds

If we cancel a class or you are purged from a class, you will receive a 100% refund of tuition charges. If you drop a class, you will only receive a refund if you drop during the add/drop period for that class, as you can see by the chart below. The last day to drop a class is based on the start date for the class. You can check the last date to drop your class on the course schedules page.

Remember:

  • You must officially drop the class by filling out the appropriate paperwork with Student Records - you can't just stop going to class. Failure to attend class is not considered an official drop. See an advisor or the records office to drop. Otherwise, you will be Administratively Withdrawn from class and be responsible for tuition charges associated with the class.
  • If you have unpaid charges on your account, refund credit will be issued after the charges are covered. Credit may include bookstore refunds or excess financial aid.
  • Technology fees are refundable only during the add/drop period.
  • Enrollment fees are only refundable prior to the start of the term or class.

How tuition refunds are returned

Refunds are processed based on the original payment method received.

  • Credit card payments will be refunded to the card when possible
  • Check or cash payments will be refunded by a check.
    • You can sign up for direct deposit instead of receiving a check. Direct deposit will eliminate the wait time required by the mail process.

Excess funds / financial aid refunds

Excess funds are the amount of your financial aid that is left after tuition, fees, books, and supplies have been deducted.

Financial Aid applies 35 to 45 days from the first day of class. The Business Office processes refunds weekly and within 15 calendar days of funds being credited to your account.

Refunds will be mailed to the student address on file or you may choose to have your financial aid refund deposited directly to your bank account.

  • If you choose direct deposit, you are encouraged to sign up during the first two weeks of the full semester by accessing the Financial Information tab in the WebAdvisor menu in GTC4me.
