Vehicle Registration

Any vehicle on a Greenville Technical College campus must display a permanent parking decal or temporary parking permit.

Parking Decals 2016-2017

Three types of parking decals are available: parking decals

  • Student/Commuter (orange/white background with black logo and lettering) 
  • Student Housing (blue/white background with white/black lettering)
  • Faculty/Staff (green/white background with white logo and lettering)

Please note: all parking decals other than the versions pictured at right, are no longer valid and must be replaced.

The individual who registered the vehicle will be responsible for all violations assessed on the vehicle.

Where to get decals

Decals are distributed by the GTC Police Department. Decals are available from the following locations:

    What is required

    • State issued Driver's License
    • Greenville Technical College ID (If you don’t have one, you can get it from the ID Office listed above. Please bring your class schedule.)
    • Vehicle information, including tag number
    • ID number (appears on your schedule or pay advice)

    Student Decals

    ST 13-14Commuter Students will be issued up to two (2) permanent decals for their vehicles. Temporary permits can be issued for any additional vehicles at any time during the academic year.

    The decal is issued to the Student, who will be responsible for all violations assessed on the vehicle. Upon sale or transfer of the vehicle, the GTC Parking Permit must be removed. The decal will be invalid upon either voluntary or involuntary separation from the college.

    The decal for commuter students for the 2016-2017 academic year will be valid through the Summer 2017 semester. Parking for Students is limited to white lines only.

    Student Housing Decals

    Housing 13-14This decal is required to park in Campus Pointe (GTF Student Housing) parking beyond the Security Checkpoint. It is also valid in white lines only on all campuses. A separate student decal is not required.

    Decals for Student Housing residents will not be issued until you move in. The only issuing office for GTF Student Decals is:

    Campus Pointe residents will be issued no more than one (1) Student Housing decal per academic year, if you have a vehicle parked in the Student Housing Parking area. GTC Police will not issue additional decals for multiple vehicles or temporary parking permits for Student Housing.

    The decal for housing residents for each academic year will be valid for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. The decal will be invalid and must be returned to Campus Pointe management upon either voluntary or involuntary separation from GTF Student Housing.

    Faculty/Staff Decals

    FS 13-14Faculty/Staff will be issued up to two (2) permanent decals for their vehicles during the duration of their employment with GTC at no cost. Temporary permits can be issued for any additional vehicles at any time during the academic year.

    • The vehicle/permit will be used solely by the faculty/staff member issued the GTC Parking Permit. The vehicle, if used by any other person(s) attending classes or events on College Property must be parked in student parking (white line spaces) only.
    • Issuance of a parking permit allows the faculty/staff member operating the vehicle to park the permitted vehicle in faculty staff parking (green line spaces) or student parking (white line spaces) only.
    • The individual issued a faculty/staff permit will be responsible for any parking fines/violations associated with their vehicle/permit issued by GTCPD.
    • Faculty/staff members may request up to two (2) permanent parking permits solely for their use as an employee. Faculty/staff members will not request or obtain permits for usage for any other person (including siblings, relatives or family members who may be attending or frequenting GTC).
    • Fines/citations can be appealed within five business days of the issuance of a citation to the Dean of Students (form). Citations not appealed within five days will be deemed valid. The faculty/staff member will be responsible for all fines associated with the citation after five days or final adjudication by the Dean of Students in cases of appeal.
    • Three (3) or more citations within an academic year could result in sanctions related to the employment status of the faculty/staff member. This could include disciplinary action related to their employment.
    • Upon sale or transfer of the vehicle, the GTC Parking Permit must be removed by the faculty/staff member. The faculty member is responsible for notifying the Dean of Students of the cancellation of the permit within five (5) business days.
    • The permit is the property of GTC. Upon separation of employment with GTC, the vehicle permit must be removed and provided to the department head or supervisor of the member. The supervisor or department head will notify the Dean of Students of the cancellation of the permit within five (5) business days.

    The decal will be valid until further notice. Faculty/Staff may park in green or white line spaces.

    Decal Placement

    The decal must be placed on the outside of the vehicle, on the left side of the rear window at the bottom. Exceptions to this rule are:

    • CONVERTIBLES AND TRUCKS WITH REMOVABLE COVERS: The decal can be placed on the front windshield, driver's side bottom (outside field of view).
    • MOTORCYCLES: Place the decal in a visible location, such as the front fork, fender, data plate area, windshield, etc.

    All vehicles must pull in and NOT back in to a parking space. When parallel parking, park with the flow of traffic, placing your passenger door to the curb.

    Temporary Parking Permits

    Four types of temporary parking permits are available: Student, Faculty/Staff, Visitor/Guest, and Contractor. Temporary permits are available at the same locations as decals above. Bring with you:

    • State issued Driver's License
    • Greenville Technical College ID (Faculty/Staff or Student Permits only)
    • Vehicle information, including tag number

    For short-term temporary requirements (five days or less), a short-term temporary permit is also available. Place the temporary permit on the driver’s side of your dash. Temporary permits are valid on all campuses in designated parking spaces until the expiration date on the permit.

    Disability (Handicap) Vehicle Registration

    In compliance with the reasonable accommodation provision of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, disability parking spaces (blue lines) are available only to those displaying a valid state disabled placard or vehicle tag. Placards and tags can only be obtained in South Carolina through the Department of Motor Vehicles.
