Lead poisoning can affect anyone, but it is especially dangerous for children under the age of six. That's why the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has special certification requirements for renovators and other contractors. Our goal is to help you do your work without exposing children to lead contamination!
Greenville Technical College has trained more than 8,500 renovators since the EPA regulations became effective in April 2010, and we can help you protect yourself and those around you with:

Certified Renovators can work for a variety of trades ranging from plumbers and painters to maintenance workers and restoration contractors. Any company that performs work that can disturb paint in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities needs a Certified Renovator on site to oversee the measures taken to prevent contamination.
For lead abatement professionals, there are two distinct employment paths, both of which require the use of protective clothing and respirators on the job. Both tracks are expected to have higher than average growth and good job prospects overall.
Many states require licensing in each lead discipline (worker/supervisor, inspector, risk assessor and project designer).
These courses may be used for licensing as a Certified Renovator or lead abatement professional in North Carolina, South Carolina, and several other states. Call Karen Hampton at (864) 250-8438 to inquire about specific state approvals.
