Current data suggest that the Manual Machines – General Shop Basics program completers will have a strong opportunity to secure employment in the area which they receive training with a four percent growth projected for machinist over the next five years. A total of 237 new positions will be added to the workforce in the Greenville, Laurens, Pickens, and Spartanburg counties by 2023. Additional, supporting occupations such as CNC Machine Operators, CNC Programmers, and Tool and Die Makers will add 144 job openings during this five year period. The CNC Machine Operator occupation is projected to grow by 8% with CNC Programmers and Tool and Die Makers both projected to grow by 11% during this same period.
