With a strong base of manufacturing employers and a workforce to match, the Upstate has an unparalleled track record in manufacturing excellence and rewarding opportunities for people with the right skills. Among the strongest opportunities in manufacturing are machinist positions, with employers expressing a critical need for qualified workers.
The Machine Tool Technology program at Greenville Technical College is designed to provide local companies with a pool of skilled metalworking personnel and to give graduates the knowledge base needed to qualify for rewarding positions.
Many of the openings employers seek to fill are for those with Computer Numerical Control or CNC skills. Within the Machine Tool Technology Department, the college also offers several levels of training in the CNC program, which can lead to many high-demand jobs.Graduates find employment in large and small machine shops and manufacturing distributorships as machinists, quality control technicians, toolmakers, and production operators.
