Accelerate Math Program

Did you place into a Transitional Math class? Would you like another chance to place higher?

Accelerate Math is for you!

Math is a difficult subject for many students. The Accelerate Math Program at Greenville Technical College is offered to all students who place into Transitional Math classes (MAT 100, MAT 105). It is designed as a low-stakes, low-stress way for students to brush up on their math skills and be better prepared for their math courses.

HOW IT WORKS

For a $35 fee, you will be provided access for six weeks to ALEKS math software. ALEKS is web-based, self-paced, and diagnostic. It will identify your math strengths and weaknesses and design a plan for you to improve your weaknesses. This means that you do not have to spend time working on math concepts that you already know.

After working through the math software, you will schedule a proctored comprehensive assessment with a faculty member. If you complete the assessment with 85% or higher, you will earn placement credit, and the improvement in your math skills will give you the best opportunity to be successful in your next math class.

To help you navigate the program and the software, GTC has math faculty dedicated to Accelerate Math. These faculty will be glad to help you with the software and the math concepts, as well as any questions you might have as a GTC student.

HOW TO SIGN UP

Accelerate Math is available to access online, with instructors available to help by phone or email so you can complete the program remotely.

Complete these steps to register remotely:

Go to http://bookstore.gvltec.edu/course-search
In the menu bar, choose Login.
If you have a campus store account, log in to that account.
If you do not have a campus store account, choose Register and fill out the form.
In the menu bar, choose Textbooks.
Under Select the Department, choose MAT-Mathematics
Under Select the Course, choose - 000-Mathematics
Under Select the Section, choose - All Staff
Choose - Find Books
Add ALEKS to cart and proceed to checkout.
Send an e-mail to ALEKS@gvltec.edu with your contact information so that one of our faculty can contact you to complete the registration process.

If you prefer to register in person, please bring your receipt to the Math Center in Building 104, Room 357. Faculty are available to meet with you Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
