Why should I prepare for the placement test?
Greenville Technical College offers students several opportunities to prepare for the Accuplacer placement test. Doing well on the placement test is the surest way to move directly into the program you've chosen.
Isn't my previous education enough preparation?
Many students have difficulty with tests even though they know and understand the information in the questions. Preparing for the test will let you know what to expect so that the test is a true measure of your knowledge. The goal is not to "teach the test" or sacrifice any courses needed to strengthen your basic skills before taking courses in your major. Test for Success options are simply designed to help you "test your best."
The Test for Success workshop reviews skills and prepares students for taking the Accuplacer placement test. Greenville Technical College offers Test for Success workshops in Basic Math and Reading and Writing.
What does each workshop cover?
Each workshop covers the format of the exam and basic test-taking techniques along with a review of skills tested by the Accuplacer. Remember, the purpose of the workshop is to review skills, not to learn new skills. Below is a sample of topics covered in each workshop.
