The Diesel Equipment Technology program at Greenville Technical College provides students with an understanding of diesel equipment systems with emphasis on "over-the-road” or “long-haul” trucks.
Real-world experience
Many students earn while they learn through pairing with an employer, allowing you to gain valuable hands-on experience as you study.
The outlook for diesel/heavy transportation is promising, with opportunities in truck dealerships and repair shops, fleet service and maintenance, power generation, heavy equipment, and marine repair.
Employment is also very stable, with 86 percent of our graduates over the last 10 years remaining in the field.

PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS
ASE Automotive Service Excellence Technician (subject to passing exam) - Graduates will have the necessary technical skills to become a diesel heavy truck equipment mechanic and a solid foundation of knowledge to confidently execute the ASE certifications.
The Waste Industries Partnership program with Greenville Technical College gives students real-world work skills along with a guaranteed opportunity to show off those skills in an interview with the company. Students who complete the program will earn an associate degree in General Technologies with a major in Diesel Mechanics and receive a guaranteed interview at the conclusion of the curriculum. Tuition reimbursement opportunities are also available.
