The Motorcycle Safety classes at Greenville Technical College are offered through the South Carolina Rider Education Program (SCREP). The SCREP provides rider training for individuals of all skill levels, from beginners needing basic skills to experienced riders needing to sharpen their skills.
Greenville County has the highest number of registered motorcycles in the state. These courses are taught as a public service to the community to help ensure that riders have the proper training in order to ride safely.
Course curriculum for all levels of safety training is in compliance with and all Rider Coaches are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.
Minors must register in person accompanied by their parent/guardian at the Dreisbach/Anderson Student Success Center, Barton Campus Building 102, 506 South Pleasantburg Drive. Hours are M-Th, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Minors who attempt to register online without prior consent will forfeit their seat in class AND lose their registration fee. No exceptions to this rule. This course has a firm 17+ policy.
Basic Motorcycle Course – Suitable for those who have never ridden, and a beginner permit is required to receive a SCDMV waiver. Upon successful completion of this course, the student does not have to take the skills test and will receive their motorcycle license. Motorcycles are provided.
Intermediate – For those who want to continue the journey and develop their skills, or for students who may have a license but haven’t ridden in a while.
Experienced – Designed as a skills tune-up for the experienced rider who already has a motorcycle license. Students must provide their own motorcycle, licensed and fully insured. Students must also provide helmets and protective gear.
ARC (Advanced) - This is the public version of military rider training and requires a high level of skill. Students may use any motorcycle for the course (their own). The course covers advanced strategies, risk assessment, decision-making and awareness. Course is offered on a limited basis in response to demand.
Location: The classes meet at the Barton Campus, 506 S. Pleasantburg Dr., Greenville, SC 29607, Building 117 (Ruth A. Nicholson Nursing Sciences Building) Room # 239. Class begins promptly at 8AM. No walk-up registrations are allowed.
Coaches have the authority to counsel out any student who they feel cannot safely complete the exercises. Refunds are not issued to students who do not successfully complete the course.
