Computer Numeric Control (CNC) operators run CNC machines to cut metal parts to specific dimensions. They are very involved with quality and producing parts to meet customer specifications.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the starting salary for CNC operators ranges from $15 to $17 per hour. The Upstate region (Greenville, Anderson, and Mauldin) is one of two regions in South Carolina with a strong occupational demand with an annual mean wage at $49,000.
CNC Operator Level I completers are well equipped to enter the workforce as CNC Entry Level Operators.
CNC Operator Level II completers who have completed the four NIMS certification are considered competent CNC Operators.

CNC Operator Level I completers can receive up to nine hours of academic exemption credit toward the Machine Tool Technology associate degree program at Greenville Technical College.
