Construction & Carpentry

The Construction Academy is a series of six courses related to construction fundamentals and construction industry safety. The academy is mirrored on a standard five-day work week with an emphasis on safety, basic construction skills, reporting to work on time, dressing appropriately for the construction industry, and communicating effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

Students who successfully complete the Construction Academy are encouraged to continue in either the NCCER General Carpentry course or the Electrical Technician training program.

  • Construction Academy  
    Includes National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Core Introduction to Basic Construction Skills, NCCER Tools for Success, American Heart First Aid/CPR/AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 Hours Construction Industry, and Fall Protection.
  • NCCER General Carpentry
    The General Carpentry course provides entry-level skills for individuals to work as carpenters on construction sites and in some manufacturing sites where prefab and modular buildings are constructed. Carpenters typically follow blueprints and building plans, install structures and fixtures, measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials, construct and install building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes, and inspect and replace damaged frameworks.
