Greenville Technical College's Economic Development and Corporate Training Division offers two areas of electrical training:
Electricians work indoors and outdoors in nearly every type of facility and across numerous industries. Almost all electricians work full time, which may include evenings and weekends.
Electricians who can perform many different tasks, such as electronic systems repair, solar photovoltaic installation, and industrial component wiring, should have the best job opportunities.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the median annual wage for electricians at $52,720 as of May 2016.
SC Journeyman’s Licensing Exam Review course is a 15 week exam prep class that includes special emphasis on analyzing code requirements for the South Carolina State Residential and Commercial Electrical License with a career focus on electrical foreman (oversees several journeyman) and an electrical superintendent (oversees several foremen). This class is designed specifically to prepare individuals with more than a year’s paid work experience as an electrician’s helper to sit for the state exam.
ABC Carolinas Chapter Upstate Electrical Apprenticeship is a partnership with Upstate Electrical Contractors, Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas and Greenville Technical College to provide electrical training through classroom, lab, and live work experiences for employees working with the electrical contractors. The four year apprenticeship program utilizes curriculum developed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) that covers NCCER Core Curriculum – Introductory Craft Skills and NCCER Electrical Level I to IV classes.
ABC Carolinas Chapter Upstate Electrical Apprenticeship Contractors include: Carolina Power, Eldeco, Hayes & Lunsford Electrical Contractors, Inc., HR Allen, Inc., Walker & Whiteside, Inc., and Watson Electrical.
Successful completers receive certificates from both the college and national recognized credentials from NCCER.
