In order to enroll, state law requires that you must verify your citizenship or lawful presence in the United States by submitting the Legal Presence form (pdf) and providing one of the following documents. You can email these or bring them in person to the Admissions office.
U.S. Citizens:
- Valid South Carolina (or most other states) driver's license or permit
- Valid state-issued photo identification card
- U.S. birth certificate & photo ID
- U.S. passport
- Military identification
- Certificate of naturalization
Non-citizens: All foreign documents will be verified through Government Databases.
- Permanent resident card
- Current/valid non-U.S. passport
- Current/valid visa
- Work Authorization Card

How to submit
Submit the completed Legal Presence form and a legible copy of required documentation using one of the following methods
- by e-mail to greenvilletech@gvltec.edu
- by mail to Greenville Technical College – MS 1025, POB 5616, Greenville, SC 29606
- in person at the Admissions office in the Student Success Center or Student Services at any campus (Bring original document(s) and photo ID – we will make a copy.)
Students enrolling in Greenville Technical College’s degree, diploma or certificate programs must complete an academic review to determine course placement. You must request official copies of the documents that apply to you from the list below to be sent to Greenville Technical College. If you have unofficial copies of documents, you may want to bring them when you meet with your advisor.
- Transcript from your high school
- Use your high school’s transcript request process to send a final official transcript with graduation date to Greenville Technical College.
- Request homeschool transcripts from the accrediting homeschool association.
- If you have previously received an associate or bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university, that transcript may replace proof of high school.
- Transcript from any previous college(s)
- Use your previous college’s transcript request process to send official transcripts to Greenville Technical College.

- GED certification
- Send a copy of your certificate or scores from your GED program if your mathematics section score is 165 or higher. Scores are valid for 10 years after test.
