At Greenville Technical College, we take safety very seriously, knowing that a secure environment allows students to concentrate on learning and professors to focus on teaching. We use a team approach to minimize crime, an effort that involves each person on campus.
Uniformed police officers take the lead in responding to incidents and deterring criminal activity with help from public safety officers. This team responds quickly when calls and emergencies take place. Employees, students, and visitors also play a critical role in safety, supporting officers by noticing suspicious behavior and reporting concerns.
A warning system is in place, and communication tools include emails and text alerts. Each facility has a trained building marshal and floor captains who carry out emergency notifications and procedures when required. Resources also include emergency telephones on the Barton Campus.
An Emergency Preparedness and Incident Committee (EPIC) meets monthly, ready to mobilize at a moment’s notice. The team utilizes drills and training to maintain readiness. All employees are required to complete annual safety training in an effort to keep awareness strong and skills up to date.
While crime can’t be eliminated, preparedness and awareness allow us to reduce it to the maximum extent possible. Thank you for being part of the GTC community, coming together to maintain secure classrooms and campuses.
