Dr. Larry Miller At Greenville Technical College, we work hard to empower individuals by teaching skills that lead directly to excellent careers or transfer success. We want our campuses to be welcoming environments where students can stop for a coffee, collaborate with others on projects and assignments, and engage with faculty members between classes.
That’s why safety is a top priority. And just as we work hard to improve year over year and semester over semester in every area of college operations, we want to better our own strong record in security.

To accomplish that goal, we’ve implemented several new safety measures and strengthened others. Access control systems have been added across all locations so that buildings can be locked remotely. New cameras deter crime while providing a constant watch over our properties. GTC Police Department hours have changed to increase the number of officers on campus during peak hours, and the city and county police departments have stepped in to patrol all campuses during overnight hours.

Our Emergency Preparedness and Incident Committee (EPIC) meets monthly, using drills and ongoing training to ensure readiness. All employees undergo annual safety training to keep skills up to date. Emergency notifications are made through text and email, and each building has trained marshals and floor captains who carry out emergency procedures when required.

These are important efforts. But the most important component in campus security is you.
