The curriculum emphasizes fundamental problem-solving, practical applications, and oral, written and computer skills. Students will be exposed to working in teams, professional practice issues, and cultural diversity.

ECS Carolinas Tech Scholars

ECS Carolinas provides an opportunity to earn valuable work experience in the construction industry while working toward your degree at Greenville Technical College. ECS Carolinas Tech Scholars receive scholarships as well as competitive pay for part-time work.

The associate in applied science degree offered through the Architectural Engineering Technology program at Greenville Technical College is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. This accreditation gives associate degree programs quality certification and recognition on a national basis. In order to achieve accreditation, the programs must have established a continuous quality improvement process that is documented and must be working to make the programs better for each of the stakeholders involved. For the Engineering Technology programs, the stakeholders are prospective students, current students, faculty, graduates, employers, and college administration. Each one of these parties has a keen interest in promoting the improved quality and outcomes of the program.

Greenville Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.

This program trains students to convert preliminary designs from architects and engineers into working drawings and specifications, as well as plan, supervise, and estimate preliminary costs of construction projects.

This program will train students in the use of AUTOCAD and REVIT software, as well as manual drafting, which will be utilized by local companies in the architectural field to produce construction drawings.

AET MISSION STATEMENT

Graduates of the Architectural Engineering Technology associate degree will be prepared with the technical skills necessary to enter careers with construction industry vendors, sub-contractors, and design-build contractors, and architectural and engineering firms.

Graduates will have gained knowledge in the building of residential and commercial facilities and will be equipped with the ability to create basic construction documents. Students will be prepared for CAD drafting and limited code analysis in an office environment.

AET PROGRAM OBJECTIVES 

1. AET graduates will be equipped to adapt to updates in CAD & modeling technology by a commitment to both professional ethics and life-long learning.
2. AET graduates will be competent in a broad base of architectural engineering technology theory, operations, standards, and current practices. 
3. AET graduates will be prepared for the opportunity to obtain employment or advancement in an architectural engineering technology-related job and/or engaging in continued education.

AET PROGRAM STUDENTS LEARNING OUTCOMES 

1. AET graduates will have the skills needed to develop architectural/engineering construction documents and presentations utilizing the latest industry software and codes specifications in an ethical, professional and timely.
2. AET graduates will demonstrate the ability to apply skills associated with mathematics, science, computational methods and analytical techniques in sub-disciplines related to architectural/engineering technology problems.
3. AET graduates will demonstrate the ability to work outside the classrooms both individually and as a team member, including conducting standard tests, using measuring methods, analyzing architectural and engineering work in a professional manner, while following the appropriate safety practices.
4. AET graduates will demonstrate an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non-technical environments.
5. AET graduates will demonstrate concepts of architectural theory and design in a design environment.
