Waste Industries Partnership

Waste IndustriesGreenville Technical College's partnership with Waste Industries, a solid waste services provider, will help the company grow its own workforce and will give students real-world work skills along with a guaranteed opportunity to show off those skills in an interview with the company. The company donated a 2007 Condor Front Load Commercial Truck valued at $56,700 to the college to be used for training students enrolled in a special heavy equipment/diesel mechanics curriculum.

Students who complete the program will

  • earn an associate degree in General Technologies with a major in Diesel Mechanics
  • receive a guaranteed interview at the conclusion of the curriculum.

Tuition reimbursement opportunities

  • If a graduate is hired, the company agrees to pay back one semester’s tuition for each six months of employment.
  • If the employee completes two years with the company, the entire cost of the degree is reimbursed.
  • And, if a student earns a GPA of 3.5 or better, the company will also provide a tool set valued at $4,000 to $6,000.
