Don't leave money on the table! To qualify for grants, loans, work study opportunities, and Lottery Tuition Assistance, your next step is to submit the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It’s an essential step in ensuring you have access to the financial resources needed to pursue your education and career goals regardless of your family’s financial situation.

Completing the FAFSA as early as possible is recommended, even if you haven’t made a final college choice.

Complete the 2025-26 FAFSA for Fall 2025, Spring 2026 and Summer 2026 Semesters. The 2025-26 FAFSA is available now for the current academic year.
Complete the 2026-27 FAFSA for Fall 2026, Spring 2027 and Summer 2027 Semesters. The 2026-27 FAFSA is available now for the next academic year.

WHAT DO I DO?

Prior to starting the FAFSA, the student (and parent(s), if applicable) will first create their FSA ID at studentaid.gov.
Once you have your FSA ID you will then begin completing your FAFSA at fafsa.gov. The program will walk you through the process.
When prompted, use Greenville Technical College’s school code – 003991 – so that the results will be sent directly to us.

If you have already completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree, you can opt to submit a FAFSA waiver. Contact financialaid@gvltec.edu for information.

FAFSA REMINDERS

The FAFSA must be submitted to receive all federal aid, SC Lottery Tuition Assistance, most state aid and most scholarships.
You should complete the FAFSA every academic year that you need help paying for college (academic year includes Fall, Spring, and Summer terms).
The FAFSA is available every year beginning October 1.

DATES TO KNOW

GTC does not have a hard deadline for FAFSA submissions. However, submitting your FAFSA by the following GTC Priority dates ensures receiving a financial aid offer letter before the tuition payment deadline:

Fall – June 1
Spring – November 1
Summer – March 1

WHAT TO EXPECT

Once we have received your FAFSA, you will receive an email from GTC’s Financial Aid office. Read this email carefully as it will tell you if there are any further steps you may need to complete. You can also check your GTC4me > Self Service Financial Aid account for updates along the way.

Thanks to grant funding from United Way Worldwide, United Way of Greenville County, OnTrack Greenville and Greenville Technical College are partnering to provide guidance and support to students and families navigating the complexities of the FAFSA. In addition to assistance from our Financial Aid office, students and families can access United Way of Greenville County’s Opportunity Center for access to financial stability and training resources, including tax education and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for income tax filing services.
