Donors Keep Greenville Technical College’s Auto Body Repair Program Current with Industry Needs

Gifts by John I. Smith Charities, Fairway Automotive Group, The Smith Insurance Agency, and Jackson Marketing Motorsports Events have allowed Greenville Technical College’s Auto Body Repair Program to replace two aging and obsolete down draft paint booths with industry-current, state-of-the-art paint booths where students gain the hands-on skills to succeed in the collision industry.

Greenville Technical College holds virtual information sessions for Workforce Scholarships for the Future

Greenville Technical College offers many different career paths in high-demand fields, and with the new S.C. Workforce Scholarships for the Future, South Carolina residents can take advantage of zero-cost tuition for Spring Semester, which begins January 10, 2022. Greenville Technical College cuts ribbon for Benson Amphitheater and Pavilion

A 2014 gift from Jim and Evelyn Benson has allowed scholarships, expansion, and improvements for Greenville Technical College’s Benson Campus, with the most recent project being an amphitheater and pavilion that were celebrated today with a ribbon cutting that included remarks by Governor Henry McMaster.

Governor’s initiative addresses local labor shortage through scholarships that cover tuition and fees at Greenville Technical College

A $17 million investment in South Carolina’s workforce will provide scholarships for students in high-demand career programs at Greenville Technical College and other technical colleges across the state. The effort is aimed at addressing the labor shortage head-on, giving South Carolinians the skills to succeed, and helping the state attract additional jobs and investment from companies worldwide.

Greenville Technical College earns four NCMPR Awards

Greenville Technical College’s Marketing and Communications department has been honored with four National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) Awards. The awards were presented at the NCMPR Medallion Awards Ceremony at the District 2 Fall Conference in Savannah, Ga., Nov. 7.

Julie Eddy named chief of staff at Greenville Technical College

In this role, she works as strategic advisor to Dr. Keith Miller and the senior management team, acts as a liaison between the president and stakeholders, and as a member of the president’s cabinet, participates in strategic planning, policy development, and decision making.

Greenville Technical College celebrates its graduates

Greenville Technical College celebrated graduates on May 7 with a walk-through ceremony, held in person at the newly renovated Dreisbach/Anderson Student Success Center. Diplomas were presented to 147 participants, and 636 continuous viewers watched the ceremony through livestream. Altogether, 701 students graduated this term.

GTC partners with USC Upstate to expand transfer program

The University of South Carolina Upstate has expanded its Direct Connect Transfer Program, enabling students who have earned an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from Greenville Technical College to transfer seamlessly to USC Upstate.

Dr. Larry Miller named vice president for learning and workforce development at GTC

Dr. Larry Miller has been named vice president for learning and workforce development at Greenville Technical College (GTC) following a nationwide search. In this key role, he leads the college’s seven academic schools as well as GTC’s continuing education arm, the Economic Development and Corporate Training Division.

Greenville Technical College board votes to extend tuition freeze

The Greenville Technical College Area Commission has voted to extend a tuition freeze through the end of this year, keeping education affordable during the pandemic and as the nation begins to recover. The freeze was first instituted in summer 2020 and has continued since that time.

Crystal Pitrois of Greenville Technical College has been named a recipient of the Outstanding First-Year Student Advocate Award by the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience & Students in Transition at the University of South Carolina and Cengage.

As part of a Diversity Leaders Initiative community action project, Greenville Technical College and the Phillis Wheatley Community Center provided community members released from incarceration with backpacks containing toiletries, clothing, training information, and resources.
