Proctored Testing

Proctored, or supervised, testing can be completed at the Testing Center, located on the Barton Campus in the Dreisbach/Anderson Student Success Center (Building 102, Suite 200A).

Summer Hours

Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Note: The first student will be admitted at 8 a.m. and the last student will be admitted at 7 p.m. for testing. All testing must be completed by 8 p.m.

The Testing Center is closed on Friday through June 30.

For courses requiring test proctoring, including Online Learning courses, where you live is a determining factor in whether you will be required to test at the Barton Campus or at a local, college-approved proctor location in your area.

• If you live within 50 miles of the Barton Campus and are enrolled in a course that requires proctored testing, you are required to take your test at the Testing Center.
• If you live 50 miles or more from the Greenville Technical College Barton Campus (main campus) and are enrolled in a class that requires proctored testing, you have the option to obtain a test proctor (exam supervisor) and proctoring site to oversee your testing in lieu of on-campus testing.  Note: You must inform your instructor and the Testing Center during the start of the semester of your plans to use off-campus proctoring services, as both are required to approve the services.  Early notification assists with a smoother process in securing the proctoring services.
• If you choose to schedule a test proctor and proctoring site in lieu of on-campus testing, ask the following questions:
  • What is your testing schedule or hours of operation? (Some schedules and hours of operation may not align with your schedule.)
  • What fees do you charge? (Most sites charge a fee for outside testers.)
  • Can I take my tests here during midterms and finals? (Some proctoring sites have limited availability during midterms and finals.)
  • Does the proctor site administer both online and paper/pencil exams?

IMPORTANT NOTE - PROCTORED TESTING/ASSIGNMENT FEES

If a student needs to take a proctored assessment/test at a location other than the Testing Center at Barton Campus, the institution where proctoring service is provided may charge a fee.  The student is responsible for these fees which may vary from site to site.  Review course syllabus or contact course faculty member for assessment/testing requirements.

Please note:

• Students must have an approved proctor prior to testing. Each instructor must approve test proctoring before completion of the Non-Local Proctoring Agreement.

  • Both the student and the proctor must complete their respective areas of the form and provide electronic signature in the proper areas. The student and proctor's signature signifies that they have read, understand, and agree to comply with the test administration rules.

• The person acting as the proctor is in a position of trust. Only those persons that meet and can document their qualifications will be approved. The proctor application will be reviewed and approved after verification is completed. Incomplete applications that do not have the required documentation or do not meet the proctor qualifications will not be approved, and the student will be notified. No exams will be transmitted until an approved proctor application is on file.
• It is the student's responsibility to make the appropriate arrangements for completing all necessary testing, as required for each course, prior to the term's start date.
• Friends, relatives, employers or a student MAY NOT be a proctor.

Testing Services offers proctoring services for students from other universities or organizations as a community service and as a participant in the National College Testing Association's Consortium of College Testing Centers. The Testing Center proctors both paper- and computer-based tests. The cost to proctor is $10 per test and paid at the Greenville Technical College Bursar's Office located at the Dreisbach/Anderson Student Success Center, Barton Campus.

It is the student's responsibility to pay these charges. 

Note: Bursar's Office will not accept payment without the Proctored Exam Form.

Tests are arranged by appointment only. Testing procedures will vary according to the individual test and the home institution's requirements.
