Online courses are asynchronous or synchronous - fancy words for simple concepts!
Asynchronous means that not everyone in the class is meeting at the same time; in fact, online courses allow you to attend class at any time of day or night (though some courses have on-campus assessments that must be scheduled), and the instructor may not be in the class at the same time you are.Synchronous classes, like blended (or hybrid) courses, meet on campus at certain scheduled times, and the students and instructors are present in class at the same time.
