Carefully review the terms and conditions outlined below, by accepting, the student artist understands and will comply with the Department of Visual Arts’ policies.
Online submissions and delivery of physical work will be accepted September 12 – October 14, 2022. Submissions close at 2pm on October 14. No online or physical submissions will be accepted after this time.
DO NOT wait until Thursday, October 13 to begin framing your 2D works!
Works completed within the last two years (2020-2022), while enrolled as a DVA student at Greenville Technical College, may be submitted. Works submitted for a previous VA Annual Student Exhibit or created while enrolled at another school will not be accepted.
Online entry submission is required to provide detailed information about each student work. This information is then used to verify delivery of works and to create the exhibition PowerPoint. Please make sure all information is correct when completing the online submission form. Print and attach completed entry form to the back of each corresponding physical work.
Each student may submit up to five works. A donation of $5 per work is requested (total of $25 for five works). This entry donation can be paid by cash, check, or at paypal.me/Riverworks. Monies may be given to Gallery Assistant, Patrick Owens (250) or Gallery Director, Fleming Markel (246). Make checks payable to the Greenville Tech Foundation, for VA Student Show.
Entry funds are used to provide cash awards. Awards vary depending on fundraising, but typical award amounts are $250 Best in Show, and $100 First Place, $75 Second Place, and $50 Third Place are possible in each category.
An independent juror will choose the works included in the VA Annual Student Exhibit from among the entries. Students will be notified by email of their entry status. Submission of entries does not guarantee a student artist will be included in the exhibition. The independent juror will also choose the cash award winners. Award winners will be notified by email and all award winners must be present or represented at the awards ceremony. All award-winning works will remain in the possession of DVA at the close of the VA Annual Student Exhibit for the 2022 “Awards” exhibition.
The 2022 VAASE juror is Karen Oremus, Interim Dean and Professor of Fine Arts, College of Visual and Performing Arts, Winthrop University.
Artwork must remain on display for the full time of the exhibition, unless withdrawn by the Gallery Director.
The Department of Visual Arts reserves the right to select, copy, duplicate, or reproduce student work for promotional purposes.
The Department of Visual Arts suggests a donation of 20% of the sale price for any sold work. Please take that into account when pricing your works.
Please note that although the Department of Visual Arts will take every precaution to protect artwork, artwork is uninsured and Greenville Tech does not guarantee the safety of work while on display.
DO NOT wait until Thursday, October 13 to begin framing your 2D works!
2D work must be framed with hanging wire installed.
This is a professional exhibition, and presentation is extremely important to the jurying process. No acetate-covered artwork, poster frames, or clip frames will be accepted. Severely worn and scratched frames and/or Plexiglas are unacceptable. Please provide installation instructions and hardware if necessary for any 2D work. Installation instructions are required for 3D work, and make sure 3D work will actually hang or sit securely. Paintings on stretched canvas or panel that have a built frame do not require a separate frame for entry, but they must be wired and ready to hang.
Digital File Submissions:
Animation and video entries should be in a standard, non-proprietary format, such as .mp4 or .m4v and playable on any computer. Video entries should be 3 minutes or less and should not exceed 300MB.
All necessary support files should be included for any web design entry.
Please upload digital image(s) (300ppi, high resolutions jpegs, 10MB or less) of ALL 2D and 3D artworks. Flatten all original artwork (.psd, .ai, etc) and upload as jpeg as specified.
Label files with last name and first initial followed by title of work (ex. OwensP_OldCar.jpg). Title can be truncated or abbreviated if needed. Title provided in file name needs to correspond with the title provided on the entry form. Folders with multiple files, such as in a web design entry, can be compressed and uploaded as a .zip file.
An upload link for digital files is provided on the entry form. If you need to enter files larger than 100 MB, email pat.owens@gvltec.edu for additional instructions.
