Designed for rising 9th through 12th graders, Accelerate U summer camp program is designed for teens interested in exploring careers in the culinary and hospitality industry. Whether you’re an experienced ProStart® student, a budding chef or a complete newbie, these programs will give you a fun and exciting glimpse into life in a professional kitchen.
Saturday Culinary Pop-up camps are also available for current high school students year-round.
Held at GTC’s brand-new Truist Culinary & Hospitality Innovation Center, these four-day programs take place in CHI’s beautiful training kitchen and focus on building your confidence and skills for a variety of culinary adventures. Join Certified Executive Chef Bill Twaler to have fun while learning the techniques you need to cook a variety of delicious recipes, from scratch-made ravioli, focaccia and falafel to the best BBQ pulled pork you’ve ever had.
At the end of each class day, you’ll learn important culinary life skills to prepare you for cooking on your own, including how to create a food budget, how to repurpose leftovers into new dishes, and how to shop for the ingredients you need. This program also teaches essential skills like safe food handling and sanitation.

Take a culinary cruise around the Mediterranean and discover what makes this region home to some of the world’s most popular cuisines. Over the course of four days, you’ll learn the techniques behind phenomenal dishes from Italy, Greece, and Morocco. In addition to familiar favorites like scratch-made pasta, ravioli and chicken kebabs, you’ll also get to try making exciting street foods like falafel and hummus, breads like pita and focaccia, and desserts like baklava.

If smoky barbecue treats and classic Southern cooking speak to your soul, register for Greenville Tech’s BBQ University! This Accelerate U program is designed to give you the skills you need to master a variety of grilling techniques, from slow-cooked pulled pork and juicy barbecue chicken to mouthwatering beef brisket. In addition to learning how to use a barbecue grill from start to finish, you’ll also get to make your own rubs and sauces along with delicious Southern side dishes like mac and cheese, corn pudding, coleslaw and homemade pickles. To complete each menu, Chef Bill will walk you through the techniques that turn Southern staples like banana pudding and fresh fruit cobbler into showstopping desserts.

Dress Code
Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required each day; no flip-flops, sandals, shorts or leggings allowed. Hair should be pulled back and only minimal jewelry.
All registered campers will receive a camp shirt on the first day, which they will be expected to wear each day.
Waiting List
No seats in the camp you are interested in? Place your child on the Summer Camps waiting list. The waiting list option will appear in lieu of the “add to cart” option when a class is at capacity.
Allergies
GTC does not guarantee an allergen-free environment, if a student has food or other allergies, please notify the camp administrator or staff.
NOTE: Culinary camp recipes may contain nuts, nut oils, shellfish, gluten, dairy, produce and other food allergens.

Safety and Security
Do not call or text your children during camp hours because this may disrupt the class or cause an accident. GTC is not responsible for the loss of personal items such as video games and cell phones.
Disruptive Behavior
Campers engaging in disruptive behavior will be sent home after an initial warning and will not be allowed to return. This includes inappropriate behavior, fighting, shoving and inappropriate language.
Special Needs
If a student has any physical, emotional, or educational special needs that would require special accommodations by camp staff, it is the responsibility of the legal guardian to disclose that information at the time of enrollment so camp staff are aware. Note: GTC does not guarantee all special accommodations can be met, but will attempt to provide reasonable accommodations with advanced notice.
Instructors
Each site is managed by a qualified staff of GTC Instructors and Teacher Aides. Instructors are highly qualified educators from our local area who are selected for their abilities and expertise. They have years of experience and are excited about working with children and teens, along with providing a creative and stimulating learning environment. All camp staff has completed a screening process that meets the requirements set forth by Greenville Technical College and all staff members are required to attend an in-service training orientation. All staff members have obtained successful criminal background checks.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
Summer camps early registration will open on March 30, followed by open registration beginning April 6.
