Greenville Technical College will host three industry celebrity stylists for its one-day cosmetology continuing education class, “Icons and Legends,” Monday, Nov. 6 at the Northwest Campus.
Myron Daniels, Landis Powers and Maurice Tidy will present active demos on live models and display their iconic styles while sharing their knowledge with S.C. cosmetologists seeking continuing education credit for license renewal. This day of discovery offers cosmetologists an opportunity to learn from the best in the industry and transform their businesses.
Tidy, a London native, became the artistic director of Vidal Sassoon at age 16, playing a significant role in formulating the Vidal Sassoon technique of haircutting and finishing. He retained this position for 20 years and significantly aided the launch of Vidal Sassoon into the American, Japanese and Canadian markets as well as creating worldwide recognition of Sassoon through his technical leadership, educational seminars, hairstyles and professional shows. Tidy also spearheaded L’Oreal’s American launch at a NYC gala and was the international artistic director of Mei Salons with full creative and educational responsibility for over 14,000 hairdressers in 1,950 salons, including markets in Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Macy’s and Dillard’s.
Powers, owner and founder of the internationally-recognized salon and art gallery, Landis: Hair Is Art (Charleston, S.C.), is a master stylist/colorist and seasoned painter/sculptor. He is an international educator and distinguished member of Intercoiffure, an elite international invitation-only association of independent hairstylists and colorists setting today’s hairstyling industry standards.
Daniels, a master hairstylist, has facilitated educational seminars for Van Tibolli and Aquage and is currently the National Educator for Athena Cosmetics. He has worked closely with influential stylists Tom Harris, Paul Mitchell, Sam Villa and Eric Howard, and his work has been featured in both print and on-screen, including the sets of Law & Order, House Wives of Orange County and the Oscar and Grammy awards.
The “Icons and Legends” class will meet from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., and includes lecture, breaks, discussion, activities and live demonstrations. It is approved for six hours of continuing education for 2017-2018 license renewal for cosmetologists licensed by the S.C. State Board of Cosmetology. Lunch is included in the cost of the course and will be provided by the Culinary Institute of the Carolinas.

Attendees will need to present their cosmetology license and a government-issued picture ID the day of the event in order to complete the training. The training is presented by the college’s Division of Economic Development and Corporate Training and the academic department of Cosmetology.
